About John Koepke

John P. Koepke is a founding Partner of Red Chalk Group and has greater than 20 years of experience serving senior executives seeking unique insight and resolution to their most challenging and urgent issues. More specifically, by integrating business, technical, and legal expertise, Mr. Koepke has assisted clients in the following areas:

  • Develop intellectual property business and monetization strategies
  • Sell and license intellectual property rights
  • Develop defensive licensing strategies and acquire critical intellectual property assets
  • Assess and value patent portfolios and emerging technologies
  • Identify, evaluate, and support M&A transactions
  • Perform due diligence related to both infringement assessment and new product development
  • Create invalidity arguments through exhaustive global prior art researching

Prior to founding Red Chalk Group, Mr. Koepke’s experience includes serving as Executive Vice President, Consulting Services for ipIQ, an intellectual property professional services firm (now The Patent Board), and launching Maxiam, the intellectual asset management consulting unit of Howrey, LLP. In addition, Mr. Koepke spent 6 years as a consultant at McKinsey & Co., assisting senior level executives develop winning strategies and address the related issues associated with organization and governance, marketing and sales, technology and innovation, operational performance, product development, and capital investment/transactions.

Mr. Koepke received a Masters in Business Administration from the Harvard Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Science degree, Magna Cum Laude, in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois.
